A Strong Line Of Defense To Federal Weapons Offenses

While the Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms, this right is not absolute. The federal government has numerous laws and regulations in place that pertain to firearms and weapons charges. If you are facing federal weapons charges of any kind, it is important to get experienced legal representation from a lawyer who understands how the federal criminal justice system operates.

I am federal criminal defense attorney Neil W. Morrison. People from across North Carolina have turned to my law office for dedicated legal advocacy and skilled assistance when it comes to defending against federal criminal allegations. I can help protect your rights in the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. Contact me online, or call 919-396-5501 to schedule an appointment to discuss your case.

Defending Against All Types Of Federal Weapons Charges

There are a number of weapons and firearms offenses that can result in federal charges, including:

  • Possession of a weapon on federal property
  • Possession of an unregistered firearm
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Alteration or removal of a serial number from a gun
  • Knowingly providing false information for use in a federal background check
  • Making a “straw purchase” of firearms

If a gun is used in a drug trafficking or crime of violence case, there is a distinct likelihood you will face additional federal criminal charges. This is commonly known as a 924(c) violation and, on top of the underlying drug trafficking or crime of violence offense, it can add an additional five to 10 years incarceration to the original term of imprisonment. A second 924(c) carries with it a minimum of 25 years imprisonment. With this much at stake, it is essential to get legal help from someone who knows how federal criminal cases are tried.
