The Law Office of Neil W. Morrison, P.A. - Federal Crimes | Video Transcript

NEIL W. MORRISON: When I was in law school at Campbell University in North Carolina, I clerked at the federal public defender's office. So I got a hands-on approach in how the federal government works when it's prosecuting a case.

And I got a hands-on approach in how to defend that case, whether you're going to accept a plea agreement or whether you're going to go to trial. I need my client involved from the very start. We need to talk about how did you get involved in this. Who were the other major players? What are the facts? And what's the story? And I can take all of that. And I can compare it to the evidence to determine whether we need to go to trial or whether we need to find a way to lessen the severity of any possible or potential sentence you may face. Federal cases are more complex than state cases. Even down to sentencing and trying to understand how the federal government is going to sentence you under what's called the United States Sentencing Guidelines, you need an attorney who understands how to compute sentences under the guidelines so that you understand from the start how much time you are potentially facing if found guilty for this charge. And you need an attorney who is not going to shudder at the federal government. You need an attorney who embraces the challenge. And I'm that attorney.
